Composite Number definition: A composite number is a number which can be divided evenly by any number other than 1 and itself.
There are two numbers which are neither prime nor composite, they are 0 and 1
Composite numbers list:
Composite numbers are all the numbers which are not prime like 6,8,9,10,12,14,16,18,20…. the list goes on
Even numbers are divisible evenly by 2 and hence all the even numbers greater than 2 are composite numbers
Numbers ending in 5 are divisible evenly by 5, so all the numbers ending in 5 are composite number.
What is a composite number? For a better understanding of composite number let us consider an example
Let us check if 21 is a prime or a composite number
Factors of 21 are
21 = 1 x 21
21 = 3 x 7
this means 21 is divisible by 3 and 7 evenly as 3 and 7 are factors of 21, and hence 21 is a composite number.
Now, we can define composite number as a number which can be divided evenly by any number other than 1 and itself
Let us understand composite numbers with some more examples:
6 can be divided evenly by 1, 2, 3 and 6, so 6 is a composite number
15 can be divided evenly by 1, 3, 5 and 15, so 15 is a composite number
36 can be divided evenly by 1, 2,3, 4,6,9,12, and 36, so 36 is a composite number
49 can be divided evenly by 1, 7 and 49, so 49 is a composite number
